Climate Change Capital Announces Two Senior China Appointments

(LONDON - 10th March 2008) Climate Change Capital, the investment banking group dedicated to a low carbon economy, is strengthening its 25-strong office in China and its global reach with two key appointments.

Ka Keung Chan, until recently the Managing Director of renewable energy at CLP (or China Light and Power), the Hong Kong based Asia Pacific power company renowned for its commitment to new forms of power generation, is joining CCC as Managing Director, and Head of Investments, Greater China. And Professor CS Kiang, one of the world's experts on the environment and the application of technology, finance and policy to alleviate climate change, is joining CCC's advisory board. He is the founding dean of the college of environmental sciences at Peking University.

Dr Chan, 41, who previously worked for CLP and the Concord Group, and major investment banks in Hong Kong, including NatWest Markets and Credit Suisse First Boston, will manage the China investment team for CCC's global carbon funds and any future funds raised in and for investment in energy and environmental infrastructure in China. Cambridge educated Chan will report to Mark Bell, Head of Carbon Finance.

Dr Chan was responsible for all corporate finance activities of CLP in mainland China, and for the development and operation of renewable energy projects in Asia Pacific. He managed over 400 staff and expanded CLP's renewable energy portfolio, including hydro, wind and biomass, ten fold in China, Australia and India in two years. His achievement at CLP included winning the prestigious "Corporate Developer of the Year" by Euromoney and Ernst & Young in the Global Renewable Energy Awards 2006.

Professor Kiang has, throughout his career, played an active role in assisting China in the development of a modern, clean and sustainable economy. An expert on atmospheric chemistry Professor Kiang, who was an institute professor for 14 years at Georgia Tech in the US, is a key figure facilitating Chinese/US cooperation on tackling climate change and serves as a member of the World Future Council.

Mark Woodall, the CEO of Climate Change Capital said: "As our business continues to grow around the world - and the need for the world to use funds like ours to help combat climate change grows as well - our ability to attract top global players remains as important as ever and we are delighted to welcome Ka Keung Chan. China is a key part of our business and his appointment reflects our intent to continue growing in this most exciting market."

"Our advisory board, which consists of some of the brightest minds dedicated to shaping the policy and market responses to climate change will be greatly enhanced by the addition of Professor Kiang and his international outlook on the climate challenge and we look forward to benefiting from his wise counsel."
